Stainswick Farm

Stanswick Farm is situated in a beautiful spot on the Oxfordshire/Wiltshire border. It's an arable farm which is famous locally for its rape seed oil and also grows wheat for a well-known bakery.
Their fields are large but the owners are aware of the value of shelterbelts, both for protecting their crops, and for the benefits to the environment, so they were were glad to have our help to plant a new one on their property.

This shelterbelt was planted in early 2022, a mix of 559 native trees and shrubs, to create a windbreak and natural border along the edge of this field. Unfortunately no photographs were taken at the time. The photos here were taken several months later and already there is some evidence of growth, although we will need to keep a close eye on them due to the surrounding grass and thistles competing for light and nutrients.
