From time to time we support FWAG South West by providing funding for the trees and volunteers to help plant them. At this farm we helped to plant a 550 metre shelterbelt over two days using 1200 mixed trees and shrubs, strip mulch matting, stakes and guards. Trees were planted as bare rooted 40-60cm whips and were protected with 1.2m tree tubes and stakes in clusters of the same species, randomly spaced. The shrubs were protected with 75cm shrub guards and stakes. Random gaps were left to provide open areas in the woodland.
FWAG are always very grateful. “Many, many thanks Kathy, and Steve and Duncan who so kindly helped us on Saturday. The owner is thrilled with it. This and all our proposed OSBs this year, would not take place without your most generous support and we acknowledge this with all our publicity material.”
